The Bahamas presents its national pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia: In Another Man's Yard: John Beadle, Lavar Munroe, and the Spirit of (Posthumous) Collaboration, curated by Dr. Krista Thompson.
Bringing together the work of Lavar Munroe and the late John Beadle, the presentation unfolds as a cross-generational dialogue rooted in Bahamian cultural practice. Both artists draw from Junkanoo and work with found and discarded materials, transforming them through layered, materially driven processes.
In resonance with In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh, the pavilion foregrounds what is often overlooked, attending to the "minor notes" of social and artistic life through themes of visibility, resilience, and cultural memory.
