This new series marks a formal departure for Mayorga, as she experiments with abstraction. Echoing the shape of ornate mirrors, these framed reliefs draw on Rococo aesthetics—historically tied to European opulence—while refusing traditional narratives of beauty and power. Composed of leftover materials from larger paintings, the works extend Mayorga’s ongoing exploration of identity, excess, and cultural memory, transforming remnants into richly textured sites of reflection and reinvention.
